Evening makeup in Marrakech that lasts the whole night

There is no single Marrakech look, but a few come up again and again. Tell the artist where you are going and they will steer the choices, because a candlelit dinner wants something softer than a night of dancing.

• Soft glam: a warm neutral eye, a clean wing, skin that looks lit from within. The safe, photographs-beautifully choice.
• Smoky eye: deeper and more dramatic for a late one, kept wearable so it does not turn heavy over the hours.
• Bronze and gold: leans into the Marrakech palette, lovely against terracotta walls and lantern light.
• Natural but done: your skin but better, for people who do not usually wear much and do not want to feel painted.

Heat and long hours are the real test. A look can be perfect at eight and slide by eleven. The way around that is in the prep and the products, and a good artist plans for the night you describe.

Skin gets a primer suited to warm weather, then long-wear, often transfer-resistant foundation, set where it needs setting and left dewy where you want glow. Eyes get a base so shadow does not crease. Lips can go on as a long-wear stain under colour, so a glass of wine does not take your lipstick with it. A setting spray locks it in. If you are going to be dancing, say so, and the artist builds it tougher.

The artist comes with the full kit and a lamp, so the light is right even if your room is dim. Sit somewhere with a little space, near a window in daylight or a bright bathroom after dark. Tell the artist the time you need to walk out the door, and they work back from it so you are ready with minutes to spare, not rushed. Evening makeup starts at 550 MAD. What moves the price is the look and the time it takes: a natural face sits at the lower end, full glam with lashes and detailed eyes sits higher. Lashes, strip or individual, are usually part of an evening look and can be added if you want more.

For a specific night, book a day or two ahead, more in spring and autumn when the city is busy. If you want to test a look before a big evening, book an earlier slot as a trial. For a single night out, most people are happy to brief the artist on the day and go from there.
